Barton Academy Teacher Wins State Awards

MOBILE, Ala. — Barton Academy teacher William Edmonds was named Alabama’s Secondary Teacher of the Year and Alternate Teacher of the Year, WKRG reported. Edmonds was recognized along with Kelly Parker of Tanner Williams Elementary School, who was a top-16 finalist for Alabama Teacher of the Year. Edmunds is a French instructor at Barton Academy with 24 years of experience. He has taught French across Alabama through distance learning and taught at the University of South Alabama (USA) and University of Mobile (UM). He has also served as an international baccalaureate examiner and as president of the Alliance Française de Mobile. Edmunds formerly worked as a banker. His master’s degree is from USA in education, and his bachelor’s degree is from UM in global business and French.
