Barton Academy Work Wins National Awards

MOBILE, Ala. — The conversion of the Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies into an advanced middle school has been honored with the highest achievement awards from financial consulting firm Novogradac and the International Downtown Association (IDA). Novogradac recognizes only one project in each of four categories across the nation; Barton Academy won in the “Non-Residential Development That Overcame Significant Obstacles” category. IDA awarded Barton Academy its Pinnacle Award in the “Economic Development” category; the association wrote, "The Pinnacle awards are the highest level of recognition that IDA provides, and present the most creative and inspiring innovations in the industry. The submission far surpasses the jury criteria." The work took 10 years, $14 million and collaboration among many organizations.
