Bishop State Expands Athletics Program With Two Programs

Bishop State Community College has announced the expansion of its athletics department with the return of its cheerleading program and the introduction of women’s flag football, both of which will begin in the 2025-2026 academic year. The cheerleading program, which was last held during the 2017-2018 season, will return under the leadership of Tabitha Dallas, a former cheerleader at Bishop State Community College and Alabama State University. The coed team will offer athletic scholarships to students, and Dallas brings both a personal connection to Bishop State and extensive experience as a cheerleader and coach. Women’s flag football, one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, will come to the college as part of the National Junior College Athletic Association and Alabama Community College Conference. The sport will officially launch in fall 2025. Bishop State has named Frank Goode as the head flag football coach and is actively recruiting athletes. The school has allotted 15 athletic scholarships for the new program.
