Bishop State, Miles College Partner

Mobile’s Bishop State Community College has announced a partnership agreement with Miles College, a senior, private liberal arts historically Black college in Fairfield, Alabama, to create a collaborative transfer process for Bishop State graduates who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree. The agreement guarantees the transfer of academic credits and provides ongoing collaborative campus advising for students. Bishop State students who graduate with an associate’s degree and a minimum grade point average of 2.0 may transfer up to 64 semester hours to Miles toward a four-year degree at no cost. There is also reverse transfer credit, which allows students who transferred from Bishop State to Miles before completing an associate’s degree to still earn their associate’s degrees through Bishop State. To qualify for reverse transfer credit, students must have earned at least 16 credit hours from Bishop State and three credit hours from Miles, and they must be in good standing at both institutions. Miles will also offer transfer scholarships and send academic advisers to visit Bishop State to recruit and advise students. Finally, Miles offers 100% online programs in business administration, criminal justice and psychology for Bishop State students.
