Charles Named Bishop State President

MOBILE, Ala. — TheAlabama Community College System (ACCS) recently named Olivier Charles as president of Bishop State Community College, effective August 1, Business Alabama reported. Charles is former ACCS vice chancellor for student success. He has served in higher education leadership for more than a decade, beginning as director of admissions and enrollment management at the University of West Alabama and as director of admissions and recruitment at Auburn University at Montgomery. He previously served as dean of students at Enterprise State Community College. He holds a master’s degree in college student development from the University of West Alabama and a bachelor’s degree in special education and is a graduate of Mobile’s Murphy High School. Bishop State is one of ACCS’ six historically black colleges and Mobile’s only community college. It has four campuses in Mobile and Washington counties.
