DISL Field Class Program Coming Up

The Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL) is offering Sea Lab Science Friday, a drop-in field class program hosted by Discovery Hall Programs, on September 19 at 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Three classes will be offered throughout the day, and any number may be attended with registration and the fee of $10 per class. “Ocean Drifters” will be held at 9:30-11:30 a.m. and involve the designing, building and testing of a mini drifter, in addition to tracking a full-size ocean drifter using satellites and an app. “Trash(in) the Ocean” will be held at 1-3 p.m. and teach on marine debris and microplastics using roleplaying and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Marine Debris Tracker app. “ROVing the Gulf” will be held at 3-5 p.m. It will involve building and driving a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) in the DISL pool. All classes are suitable for ages 10 and up or for all ages with an accompanying adult. Childcare will not be provided between classes.
