FWA, Airbus Partner On Steam Initiative

To mark the 11th anniversary of its first commercial aircraft assembly line in Mobile, Flight Works Alabama (FWA) and Airbus announced several joint initiatives starting this academic school year to inspire local students to learn more about aerospace and advanced manufacturing. Structured around a three-pillar outreach framework, the Imagine What’s Possible initiative combines career exposure, hands-on technical learning and financial support to ensure logistical hurdles do not restrict student success. The main thrust of the initiative are subsidized interactive field trips to FWA and final assembly line tours for 5th-, 7th- and 9th-graders; science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) curriculum grants for schools; and an educational fund created through FWA to cover essential operational logistics and sponsor key events that ensure equal access to educational opportunities. Flight Works Alabama and Airbus have also partnered to support the new Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama-operated Aerospace Clubhouse at Pillans Middle School.
