New ROTC Instructor for Robertsdale High School (RHS)

Sgt. Charles G. Aguilar has been named RHS’ new Naval Junior ROTC instructor for the 2021-2022 school year, GulfCoastNewsToday.com reports. Aguilar was hired as a long-term substitute as part of Hiring Our Heroes’ Corporate Fellowship Program. He joins Commander Frank Starr, senior instructor, and Petty Officer Erin Pate, following the transition of longtime instructor Petty Officer Edward Theodoro to Gulf Shores High School at the end of the previous school year. Aguilar was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California before being recruited by Starr to join RHS. The South Texas native joined the U.S. Marine Corps his senior year in high school and has served in more than 30 countries during a 23-year military career, including operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has trained both foreign and U.S. forces, teaching standard military tactics and leadership traits, and will lead tactical training and social media presence development at RHS, which has an ROTC program with approximately 200 cadets. Upon completion of his internship, he will have the opportunity to be hired by Principal Joe Sharp as a full-time employee.
