Lawkis Named USA VP For Governmental Relations

The University of South Alabama (USA) has named Nick Lawkis vice president (VP) for governmental relations. He has served as the office’s executive director since May 2019. Lawkis will continue to serve as a university liaison with local, state and federal governments and agencies, including coordinating efforts to secure USA’s share of the state’s $8-billion education budget. Lawkis has led efforts to secure nearly $400 million in funding for USA and USA Health. Prior to his work in governmental relations, Lawkis served in roles in both USA’s office of student affairs and office of development and alumni relations. He holds an undergraduate degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public administration from USA. He has been named to Mobile Bay’s 40 Under 40 and serves on several internal and external committees and boards.
