Local Schools Recognized For Improvements
Chastang-Fournier Middle, Theodore High and Robertsdale High were among 38 state public schools recently celebrated for improving student achievement enough to get off the federal school improvement list, AL.com reports. In 2018, federal rules tagged 59 schools in the state for low performance and told Alabama to direct more services and support to those students and staff. Following this, improvements have included a rise in the number of students improving their test scores, more students graduating and fewer students missing school. The state’s top education officials, including Superintendent Eric Mackey and Deputy Superintendent Angela Martin, thanked school officials profusely for their hard work. The schools removed from the list will continue to have support available from the Alabama Office for School Improvement.
