Locals Win BBB Essay Competition

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Central and Southern Alabama recently announced the winners of its annual Laws of Life essay competition. The winners were: first place, Drew Prati, St. Paul’s Episcopal School; second place, Ivy Foster, Alabama School of Math and Science; and third place, Keairis Diggs, Davidson High School. All those schools are in Mobile. Honorable mention winners were Alex Potter, Saraland High School; Eryn Martin, Gavin Hodges and Kylie Holmes, Robertsdale High School; Charlie Mainwaring and Stella Gallaspy, St. Paul’s Episcopal School; and Jarrott Coleman, Lauren Robinson and Nyla Britford, Davidson High School. The top three winners won scholarships for their essays. Robertsdale High School won for the school with the most entries, and Heather Robinson of St. Paul’s Episcopal School received recognition for being the teacher of the winning student. More than 230 entries were made to the third-annual competition, which focuses on the principles of tranquility, honesty, transparency, humility and equality and how these principles apply to the business world. The essays were judged by university scholars from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Troy University, Spring Hill College and the University of Mobile.
