Maritime Museum Invites Local Teachers

The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico is partnering with Leadership Mobile and Community Bank to host a “Teacher Appreciation Celebration” for local teachers on August 20 at 4-7 p.m. at the museum. “The goal is to celebrate the educators who put so much into our children’s development, while showcasing the Maritime Museum as an educational asset,” Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. The event will offer free admission to local teachers with guided tours, hors d’oeuvres, gift bags and an opportunity to win a free classroom field trip to the museum, which boasts eight interactive “decks” that delve into the Gulf Coast’s history, commerce and ecology.
