MCPSS Raises Toys, Money For Needy; Promotes Principals

The Mobile County Public School System (MCPSS) saw more than 3,500 toys donated from 35 schools and the MCPSS Central Campus during its annual Stuff the Bus toy drive. Two school buses full of toys were delivered to WKRG’s Magical Christmas Toy Drive, then distributed to needy families throughout the Gulf Coast by the Salvation Army. Additionally, specific schools and departments organized their own localized events, including the #OperationCitroSanta bicycle drive organized by McDavid-Jones Elementary in Citronelle, which collected more than 260 bicycles for children in that community, and the MCPSS Employees Care Committee at Central Office, in which $10,000 to sponsor and purchase gifts for 106 needy children within the system was raised.
Also, three new principals were recently approved by the Mobile County Board of School Commissioners: Sean Clark at Murphy High School, Johnnie Williams at B.T. Washington Middle School and Tivella Davis at Spencer-Westlawn Elementary School. Clark had been principal at Causey Middle School, Williams had been an assistant principal at Williamson High School, and Davis had been assistant principal at Spencer-Westlawn.
