SHC Names New President

MOBILE, Ala. — Spring Hill College (SHC) has selected Dr. Mary H. Van Brunt as its 39th president following an extensive national search. When she begins her presidency in January 2023, she will become the first woman to serve in the role. Van Brunt brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in Catholic higher education. She has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Gwynedd Mercy University in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, and was founding academic dean at the School of Business, Arts and Media at Cabrini University in Radnor, Pennsylvania. She also spent 12 years in the banking, securities and pharmaceutical industries. She is a published author, consultant, certified global business professional and prior certified management accountant. Van Brunt earned a BA in economics from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, an MBA in accounting from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and a PhD in economics from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
