Simpson Donates To Daphne, Spanish Fort High Schools

Alabama Rep. Matt Simpson (R-Daphne) recently donated $100,000 each to Daphne and Spanish Fort high schools, Yellowhammer reported. At Daphne, the grant allotment will fund the School Safety Initiative, which enhances campus security measures. Those projects include completing the installation of security perimeter fencing between the school’s three main buildings; adding reflective, one-way security coverings for the main buildings’ entrances and exits; the purchase of a rapid-response cart to assist resource officers and school nurses in traversing the 55-acre campus; adding security swing gates; and to help purchase Triton ULTRA sensors for the entire campus. At Spanish Fort, the grant allotment will be used to bolster the band program, which increased from 28 to 100 students this year. Excitement for the program continues to grow, and administrators say the eighth-grade underclass will nearly double the band’s size next year. The funds will help purchase instruments and uniforms.
