Spanish Fort Elementary’s Von Hofe Named State Teacher Of The Year

Spanish Fort Elementary teacher Elizabeth Eubanks Von Hofe was recently named the 2026-2027 Alabama Teacher of the Year, AL.com reports. Von Hofe said that teaching students with disabilities is a passion for her and that she aims to consider each student’s particular strengths and weaknesses to help them individually. “I think, too often, we label people with their disabilities, rather than their abilities,” she said. “I have a student who is nonverbal, but he can play music by ear,” she said, adding she has another student who was unable to go into group settings when she first started teaching. “He now sits with his peers without adult support,” she said. Von Hofe holds a master’s degree in collaborative education and is board certified. She has been teaching for five years and is a teacher mentor. As teacher of the year, Von Hofe will travel around the state to visit school districts and meet with other teachers to share best practices.
