Bishop State President Appointed To U.S. Sports Academy Board

Bishop State Community College President Dr. Reginald Sykes is among two leaders appointed to the U.S. Sports Academy’s Board of Trustees. The board governs the Daphne-based nonprofit and consists “of a group of diverse professionals with specific expertise important to the formation of such an organization such as the institution,” it said. Sykes has served as Bishop State’s president since 2017 after serving one year in an interim capacity. He previously served as dean of students at Meridian Community College for seven years, dean of student services at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jefferson Davis Campus for one year and vice president of that campus for five years. He also worked as president of Alabama Southern Community College and for the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning as assistant commissioner for community and junior college relations and is active in many local organizations.
