USA Gets $2 Million For Marine, Environmental Sciences

The University of South Alabama (USA) has received $2 million from Dr. Steven Stokes and his wife, Angelia, for the USA School of Marine and Environmental Sciences, AL.com reports. The university has named the school’s building after the Stokes, who have given a total of $6.8 million to USA. The Department of Marine Science has increased its research and been awarded 56 grants worth a total of $16.5 million since 2021. The department offers two undergraduate majors, two master’s degree programs and a doctoral program in marine science. With the new funding, it will work on a five-year growth plan that will include new faculty hires and completion of its Education and Outreach Building.
