USA Researchers Awarded Pathology Grants

Three pathology faculty members at the University of South Alabama (USA) Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine were awarded grants from the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama as part of the nonprofit ‘s $1.3-million investment in state-based research in 2022. Dr. Debanjan Chakroborty, assistant professor of pathology; Dr. Seema Singh, professor of pathology; and Dr. Luis del Pozo-Yauner, assistant professor of pathology, will examine different aspects of breast cancer. The highly competitive grants provide each researcher $50,000 in funding per year for two years. The awards function as seed funding for early-stage studies, allowing researchers to generate the additional data needed to attract major national funding.
