Work Already Evident In Spanish Fort Redistricting

NBC 15 reported on upcoming changes due to the effects of school redistricting in Spanish Fort. New construction and eventually making Spanish Fort Middle School a seventh- and eighth-grade-only school are expected to soon follow similar changes that happened in Daphne and Fairhope as their population grew. Work has begun at Stonebridge Elementary School along East State Highway 31 for a K-6 elementary school to open for the 2022 school year. Spanish Fort and Rockwell elementary schools are also to be K-6 to reduce population at Spanish Fort Middle School. There is “a lot of work to be done at Spanish Fort,” including redesign work, the source said, for it to be prepared. The district is also planning for ninth-grade academies, starting with Daphne and Fairhope, in which ninth graders will be in separate buildings but still a part of their respective high school.
