Gulf Shores Considers Music Festival Future

AL.com reports that, more than two months after Morgan Wallen brought Sand in My Boots to a close, the Gulf Shores City Council has begun to consider a framework to take the music festival into the future. An amendment proposal is considering a one- or two-year extension. Mayor Robert Craft said the city liked the type of crowd it saw in 2025 and would like to see it come back in 2026; if festival organizers can make that happen, they will have a chance at yet another year. Sand in My Boots sold out 40,000 tickets almost instantly, months before showtime. It was also the last festival covered by a 10-year franchise agreement between the producers of the preceding Hangout Music Fest and the city. Without an extension, there is no framework for a 2026 edition to use city resources, including the public beach site. The proposed amendment is between the city and Hangout Music Fest LLC and says the city agrees that producers may opt for a format different from previous Hangout Fests but does not mandate a particular one.
