Mobile Festival To Feature Buffett’s Music

Visit Mobile has announced that the City of Mobile will serve as the destination for Parrot Heads and visitors for the inaugural Son of a Sailor Fest, a tribute and sailor’s salute to Jimmy Buffett and Gulf Coast music, on September 21 in Cathedral Square. The free celebration will be a family friendly street festival and feature a second-line parade, Parrot Head costume contests and musical acts inspired by Buffett and the area’s coastal culture. The headlining act is A1A, the official Buffett tribute show. There will also be Will Kimbrough, an honorary Coral Reefer, writer and performer featured on every Buffett studio album recorded in the last 20 years. Son of a Sailor Fest began in 2023 as an impromptu celebration of life second-line parade and tribute concert called the Jimmy Buffett Hometown Second Line immediately following Buffett’s death.
