Mobilian Releases Carpenters Tribute Album

MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile native Carla Williams recently released A Tribute to the Carpenters, a Carpenters tribute album, via her own label, BelleFire Records, AL.com reports. Making of the album included recording sessions with the London Strings at Abbey Road Studios in London; the recruitment of Toto’s Steve Luthaker for a guitar solo; and collaborations with British pop star Cliff Richard, singer-songwriters Jeff Coffey and Bill Champlin and country singer Billy Dean. Prior to this project, Williams’ preferred genre has been country music; she released the album I’m Home on Nashville-based independent label Lofton Creek in 2009. Williams is scheduled to perform at The People’s Room in Mobile on April 8 and is planning other events.
