Africatown Hall & Food Bank Opens

The Africatown Hall & Food Bank recently opened at 2201 Paper Mill Road in Mobile, the Mobile County Commission announced. The commission says that the new facility it constructed will be a central location for existing revitalization and community improvement activities in Africatown. It has a food bank equipped with refrigeration and is the new home of Africatown Redevelopment Corp., an organization created by the state legislature in 2021, and it provides office space for the Africatown Heritage Preservation Foundation, Clotilda Descendants Association and Mobile Environmental Justice Action Coalition. It is also the new home for collaborative food distribution activities already underway in Africatown by Yorktown Missionary Baptist Church and Africatown Community Development Corp.
