Africatown Welcome Center Design Unveiling Set For November 6

The City of Mobile and its design team, led by Mott MacDonald, is holding a public meeting on November 6 at 6 p.m. at the Robert Hope Community Center to unveil the final design of the future Africatown Welcome Center. Mayor Sandy Stimpson said the design team has worked on the design for seven months. Funded by the RESTORE Act, the facility will provide a space for community gatherings and activities. It will also be an early stop for visitors who come to learn about Africatown. The city has collected feedback from public meetings, community surveys and other outlets since April. That input has guided the design process.
