Africatown Welcome Center Update Coming Up

The City of Mobile invites residents, community stakeholders and interested visitors to attend an informational meeting on July 16 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Robert Hope Community Center at at 850 Edwards Street in Mobile to receive an update on the continued progress of the Africatown Welcome Center. City representatives will be on hand to share project updates. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn how they can play an active role in preserving and sharing Africatown’s story for generations to come. Designed to serve as a gateway to one of America’s most significant cultural and historical destinations, the center will provide residents and visitors with a starting point to help tell the community’s story. Featuring photographs and other artifacts, the center will guide visitors to other cultural and historical sites in Africatown.
