Airport Improvements For Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala. — The Gulf Shores City Council recently voted to approve Gulf Shores International Airport improvements using funds from an $804,775 Federal Aviation Administration grant, Gulf Coast Media reports. The airport authority and State of Alabama will each pay $44,709 to bring the total for the project to $894,193. The improvements are to include new lights on the main taxiway and design work for the terminal. Work on them is to start soon, but commercial airline flights from the airport are now expected to start in 2023, later than announced, due to the ongoing pilot shortage.
