ALDOT Grant Received For Eastern Shore Trail Bridge

The Baldwin County Commission has been awarded a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to construct a new freestanding pedestrian bridge on the Eastern Shore Trail near the Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa in Point Clear. The project is to allow pedestrians over Point Clear Creek and has an estimated construction cost of $910,000, 80% of which will be provided by the TAP Grant. The design phase has begun, and construction is scheduled to finish in 2025. It will complete a missing link in the 22-mile-long Eastern Shore Trail between Spanish Fort and the Weeks Bay Reserve at Fish River. Consisting of sidewalks, asphalt paths, elevated boardwalks and low bridges, the trail is shared by runners, pedestrians and casual cyclists.
