ALDOT Receives Causeway Improvements Grant

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is receiving a $3.5-million federal Infrastructure grant to go toward causeway improvements, FOX10 reports. The work is considered an important first step in preparing for increased traffic once the planned I-10 Bayway and Mobile River Bridge replacement project gets underway. The grant only sets the beginning stages of the project in motion and won’t come close to paying for the road construction ahead. Spanish Fort Mayor Mike McMillan said his city will feel the most impact from increased traffic during Bayway construction. He added that he expects whatever improvements are made to be completed prior to Bayway construction beginning, which should be over the next year to year and a half.
