Baldwin County Becomes Fourth-Largest

Baldwin County has become the state’s fourth-largest county, surpassing Montgomery, AL.com reported from recently released U.S. Census Bureau estimates. The estimates add 47,000 people between 2010 and 2020, the highest total population gain of any Alabama county over that time (25.8%). Baldwin County is expected to be home to more than 229,000 people. Lee Lawson president and CEO of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, explained, “When you look at some of the benchmarks – education, crime and safety, quality of life and job creation – we have the kind of offerings to attract multiple age groups and demographics. And the good news about our growth is that our job growth has mirrored our population growth. For me, that is the biggest plus and validator.”
