Baldwin County Population, Opportunities Grow

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — According to Gulf Coast Media, recent census reports show that Baldwin County’s growth rate continues to lead the rest of the state, with the number of jobs increasing in addition to its population growth. Citing Lee Lawson, director of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, as more people are free to work from home, more are choosing to live in areas like Baldwin County. He said the most recent census figures confirm that Baldwin County’s growth rate continues to lead the state, with nearly 7,000 people moving there in the last year. In terms of jobs, Lawson said that in the last year, the beginning of construction on the Aldi distribution center (BBN #28) and Imperial Dade logistics hub (BBN #47) confirm that a total of 1 million ft2 of commercial development will be added in the county. Upcoming projects, including the new Mobile International Airport downtown and the deepening of the Mobile Bay ship channel, are expected to bring more commercial growth to both sides of the bay.
