Baldwin County To Receive $29.6 Million from FEMA, State

Baldwin County will receive nearly $29.6 million in reimbursement for cleanup after Hurricane Sally, per the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State of Alabama. The reimbursement will go toward lowering the $60-million debt the county took on to clean up debris piles following the storm, AL.com reported. Baldwin County collected approximately 1.9 million yd3 of vegetative debris and 137,067 yd3 of construction and demolition debris. “FEMA’s share of the grant is 75%, or $29,636,980, with the remainder funded by state and local and county governments,” FEMA and the state explained. “This, in addition to the $32 million already obligated to the county, totals $54.4 million in FEMA funds to reimburse the county for their eligible disaster-related expenses.”
