City Of Mobile Releases Resilience Plan

The City of Mobile Office of Resilience and Sustainability has released its first resilience plan. Titled “Resilient Mobile,” it is the result of a two-year collaboration between the office, local partners and community stakeholders. Key contributors include The Water Institute of the Gulf; Waggoner & Ball; the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant; and regional partners such as Volkert, Ephriam Environmental and Moffett & Nichol. It provides a comprehensive roadmap to help ensure residents can withstand and recover from acute shocks like hurricanes, as well as chronic stressors like aging infrastructure and socioeconomic disparities. The plan outlines strategies to enhance resilience efforts through infrastructure improvements, climate adaptation measures and economic development initiatives. It is also intended to strengthen the city’s ability to secure funding for future resilience projects.
