Daphne Approves Justice Center Expansion

The expansion of Daphne’s Justice Center on Highway 98 has been approved by the Daphne City Council, which voted on $800,000 for the engineering survey and architectural design, FOX10 reports. A courtroom double the size of the existing one will be added, and the magistrate office will expand into the vacated space. The patrol division of the police department, which has operated out of the north precinct by Home Depot for more than five years, will be rejoined with the detective division at the expanded location. An architect is already developing a construction plan for the $6-7-million project to expand the nearly 30-year-old Justice Center. There will be more space for both the court and police. The expectation of the beginning of construction has been delayed until early 2024.
