Daphne Opens Fire Station

A new fire station to serve the growing eastern area of Daphne has opened after COVID-19 delayed the delivery of a new fire truck for several months, GulfCoastNewsToday.com announced. Fire Station No. 5, east of Highway 181, is expected to provide more service to an area of the city that is continuing to see rapid growth. Fire Chief LeAnn Tacon said the department hired firefighters to cover the area several months ago and has been increasing coverage from other stations but had to wait on delivery of a fire truck. Now, coverage will be improved, she added. The new station will be staffed by three or four firefighters each day. The Daphne City Council approved its construction in 2019 for $1.6 million.
