Dueitt Becomes Mobile County Commission President

Mobile County District 3 Commissioner Randall Dueitt assumed the role of president of the Mobile County Commission on July 10 and will hold the position until the election of a new president on November 13, 2024. The position rotates among the three elected commissioners, who each serve in that capacity for 16 months within the four-year term of elected office. Commissioner Merceria Ludgood, who has represented District 1 since 2007, served as commission president in the first rotation that began Nov. 11, 2020. Commissioner Connie Hudson, who has represented District 2 since 2010, served as president in the second rotation that began March 14, 2022. Dueitt, who has represented Commission District 3 since 2020, will chair commission meetings, sign documents on behalf of the commission, serve on various boards and serve as Mobile County’s chief elected official during a declared emergency or disaster. Ludgood moves into the position of Mobile County Commission vice president and, as such, may chair meetings or act for the president in Dueitt’s absence.
