Edington Named To Battleship Commission

The USS Alabama Battleship Commission recently announced Gov. Kay Ivey’s appointment of Mobilian Virginia Edington as a commissioner. Edington will fill the remaining term of her late father, Commissioner Robert Edington, who passed away last summer. Edington is the owner and operator of Carzignment in Mobile, which she opened in 2017.  She also serves on the board of directors of the Penelope House, Historic Mobile Preservation Society, Alabama Coastal Foundation, Equality Alabama and Rainbow Mobile. The USS Alabama Battleship Commission was established on September 12, 1963, as a state agency to establish and maintain the USS Alabama and Battleship Memorial Park as a veterans memorial. The commission has 18 members appointed by the governor.
