Five Coastal Projects Totaling $47 Million Announced

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) has approved five restoration and conservation projects in Alabama’s Gulf Coast region, a total of $47 million for what will be the final projects funded through a program established after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, AL.com reports. NFWF selected the projects for the Gulf Environmental Benefit Fund after extensive consultation with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The projects are the Dauphin Island East End Restoration, Phase II ($26 million); Gulf Highlands Conservation Acquisition, Amendment ($8.2 million); Lower Fish River Watershed Restoration, Phase II ($9 million); Wolf and Sandy Creek Headwaters Restoration, Phase II ($2.8 million); and Alabama Coastal Adaptive Management ($1 million).
