Foley Announces $20-Million Library Project

A new Foley library, twice the size of the current one, is to be built on city property south of the Foley Post Office, near the city Dog Park, the City of Foley announced. Also to serve as a community center and learning facility, the 40,000-ft2 building would be located downtown near the dog park. U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl has already secured $2 million for the project. Mayor Ralph Hellmich said plans being considered could also include an outdoor area on the roof of part of the building and that the current library would be used for other city purposes after the new facility opens. The plan calls for it to be designed this year, built in 2024 and open in 2025. Planners are talking to residents and other library users to determine which other services the public would like to see it host.
