Foley Kids Park Opening Tomorrow

The City of Foley’s Kids Park will reopen with a ceremony on May 27 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Construction recently concluded at the park, located on West Verbena Avenue near the Max Griffin Pool. It has been closed since February for demolition of most of the original structure. One of the remaining items from the original park is the sign, which will be restored and put in place at the new facility. It will display a new name in honor of Sara Thompson, a second-grade teacher who worked to get the original park built. Thompson taught at Foley Elementary School for 20 years before retiring and died in 2022. Other recent news on the park includes approval of a new fence to be installed and plans to rebuild the pavilion that was torn down during this year’s $1.2-million construction.
