Foley Library Opens

The Foley Community Library opened on August 4 at its new location at 230 East Orange Avenue. With approximately 40,000 ft2, the new $20-million center is twice the size of the building that has served as the library since 1984. It includes a sensory room, separate children’s and teens’ activity areas, the Children’s Story Grove and a large multipurpose room that seats 277. It also features a second-story porch that overlooks the Perry Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail and the city’s Dog Park. The former library building, next to City Hall on East Laurel Avenue, closed during the move to the new center. It will be renovated for other municipal purposes.
