Foley Municipal Election Forum Coming Up

Candidates for contested Foley City Council seats in the August 26 municipal election will have a chance to discuss the issues in a forum on August 14. The forum will take place at the Foley Civic Center at 6 p.m. Organized by the South Baldwin Common Sense Campaign, the event will see candidates answering timed questions asked by a moderator. Each candidate will have 3 min. to make an opening statement, 90 s. to answer each question, 30 s. to answer a follow-up question (if asked) and 90 s. to make a closing statement. Audience members will be asked not to applaud or make other responses. Four of the five City Council seats are contested, with at least two candidates running for each position. District 3’s council seat has one candidate, and Mayor Ralph Hellmich is also unopposed in his bid for re-election. The mayor and council members will each serve a four-year term.
