Gulf Shores Airport Advances $15-Million Terminal Expansion

Gulf Shores International Airport is advancing a $15-million terminal expansion, Gulf Coast Media reported. The project is now positioned to move toward construction later this summer. Plans call for a connected terminal expansion that will add boarding gate areas, expand curbside dropoff space, increase baggage claim capacity and introduce a new outdoor patio aimed at improving passenger flow and comfort. Airport officials are also preparing for what they expect to be the busiest summer travel season since commercial service began in 2025. This month, the airport will begin to offer 30 total flights per week as new nonstop routes come online and existing service increases. To handle increased demand, the airport has adjusted pickup and dropoff zones, expanded parking capacity and enhanced its outdoor prescreening area. Seasonal amenities will also include live music from local musician Just Roger and food truck service from Trauma Hogs. Volunteers from the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber will assist travelers throughout the terminal.
