Gulf Shores Beach Activity Sheet Enters Restaurants
GULF SHORES, Ala. — Gulf Shores Fire Inspector Justin Parks, along with his wife Jamie Parks and sister Kerry Parks, have created a beach safety activity sheet to help promote the Gulf Shores Beach Safe initiative, Gulf Coast Media reported. The idea started as a custom coloring book to distribute to elementary students and evolved into a trifold activity and coloring sheet customized with restaurant logos and children’s menus. Beach House Kitchen and Cocktails, DeSoto’s, the Original Oyster House and The Lodge have committed to using the sheets, and more restaurants are expected to pick them up. The nonprofit Gulf Shores Fire/Rescue Association has funded the project thus far thanks in part to a $1,000 donation from DeSoto’s, a $2,500 donation from Ron Jon Surf Shop and money raised at the association’s golf tournament last year. The digital file is available to restaurants for free by contacting the Gulf Shores Fire Rescue at 251-968-7422 or email. Those wanting help with the print version may contact Gulf Shores Fire Rescue to donate reams of tabloid size (11- by 17-in.) paper to Gulf Shores Fire/Rescue or volunteer to fold the sheets.
