Gulf Shores Visitors Bureau Gets $1 Million
Gulf Shores’ Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau is getting $1 million to boost marketing in the wake of the pandemic, AL.com reports. The sum is made up of $800,000 from a Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act grant and $200,000 in local investment. The source of the local funds was not identified. A U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration announcement said the grant will fund “a series of marketing strategies, including identification of the most productive consumer markets and areas of opportunity; research into the most lucrative advertising platforms; and the development of appropriate messaging.” It credited the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission for laying the groundwork that made the project possible.
