Hudson Becomes Mobile County Commission President

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. — Mobile County District 2 Commissioner Connie Hudson assumed the role of president of the Mobile County Commission on March 14 and will hold it until July 9, 2023. The position is rotated among the three elected commissioners, who each serve for 16 months within their four-year term. Commissioner Merceria Ludgood, who has represented District 1 since 2007, served as Commission President in the first rotation that began Nov. 11, 2020. Hudson has represented District 2 since 2010. Her presidential duties include chairing commission meetings, signing documents on behalf of the commission, serving on various boards and serving as Mobile County’s chief elected official during a declared emergency or disaster. Commissioner Randall Dueitt, who has represented District 3 since 2020, moves into the position of commission vice president, allowing him to chair meetings or act for the president in her absence. Dueitt will serve as president in the final rotation beginning July 10, 2023, until the election of a new president on November 13, 2024.
