Innovate Alabama Opens Small Business Grant Process

The Alabama Innovation Corporation (Innovate Alabama) recently opened applications for the Innovate Alabama Supplemental Grant Program. It allows Alabama-based recipients of Phase I and Phase II Federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer grants to apply for up to $250,000 in supplemental funding. The goal, Innovate Alabama said, is to not only help the state’s leading entrepreneurs and innovators, but also to grow Alabama’s economy by stimulating research and commercialization, developing exportable products and services, and creating and retaining high-wage jobs in skilled occupations. Innovate Alabama, the first statewide public-private partnership focused on entrepreneurship, technology and innovation, encourages applicants to apply by 5 p.m. on August 1. Award notifications for this first round of funding begin on August 22.
