Mobile Aims To Expand Lime Scooter Service

The City of Mobile is working with Lime Micromobility to expand the scooter service area and provide more options for riders, Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis announced. The Mobile City Council is considering a new three-year franchise agreement with Lime that will result in new rules for the scooters already downtown, an expansion of service that includes seated scooters and the addition of pedal-assist bicycles at parks in the near future. Under the terms of the new agreement, scooters would be slower, maxing out at 8 instead of 12 miles per hour. The city will require Lime to pick up and properly corral scooters every day, and Lime will add new corral locations. The seated scooters will be placed at busy bus stops to allow transit riders an easier way to get home from the bus stop.
