Mobile Annexation Study Commissioned

The Mobile City Council has voted to have a neutral third party study its annexation plans, Call News reported. The plan will involve a feasibility study of all proposed parcels targeted for annexation, a cost-benefit analysis of annexation and a demographic study conducted by a third party. Community meetings on annexation are also to be held in all seven council districts. “Hopefully, with the way the legislation is written, the third party will have access to information to gather their own thoughts in the process of looking over the information the city has,” Councilmember William Carroll explained. “This will allow the third party to not only validate the process, but also to validate quantitative information such as revenue, projected revenue for the intended target area, all those things that will affect the city if the area is brought into the city.”
