Mobile Celebrates Tourism, Leads State Increase

Visit Mobile is celebrating National Travel & Tourism Week, an annual tradition highlighting the U.S. travel community and tourism’s essential role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, inspiring new businesses and elevating quality of life, through May 10. According to data collected by the Alabama Tourism Department and the State of Alabama, nearly 3.5 million visitors traveled to Mobile in 2024, a 2.2% increase from the previous year. This represents the largest growth among the state’s major cities. These visitors accounted for $1.9 billion in travel-related spending in Mobile, a 4.6% increase from 2023. In 2024, nearly 23,500 jobs in Mobile were travel-related employment, a 4.3% increase from the previous year. “Destination development is rapidly producing positive changes in Mobile, and travel and tourism commerce is crucial to the success of these investments,” said David Clark, President & CEO of Visit Mobile. “Mobile’s economic impact from tourism continues to increase in multiple categories yearly, further validating the city’s consistent focus on tourism.”
